Tajikeimɨk is seeking a Mi’kmaw Health Transformation Evaluator to work collaboratively as part of our team to document and evaluate our health transformation process, programs, services, structure, and outcomes.
What you’ll do:
- Develop a Mi’kmaw evaluation framework that is informed by Mi’kmaw values and Etuaptmumk (two-eyed seeing), and honours, respects and protects the knowledge being shared
- Evaluate the Health Transformation process, programs and services as they are being developed
- Produce evaluation reports as required for projects such as: Indigenous Midwifery, Early Years programs, Mi’kmaw Mental Wellness and Healing Strategy
- Support Health Directors in Nova Scotia in evaluating programs offered through Mi’kmaw community health centres
- Support successful health transformation by applying expertise in evaluation
- In collaboration with the Tajikeimɨk team, develop processes to evaluate and track health and wellness outcomes over time, and the impact Health Transformation has for Mi’kmaw communities.
What we’re looking for:
- You have experience with program evaluation. Tajikeimɨk will also offer mentoring and training to support the position.
- You have sound knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture and experience working with Mi’kmaw organizations.
- You are an innovative thinker with experience developing and using evaluation as a tool for community development and social change.
- You are a relationship builder with the ability to work effectively with multiple partners.
- Passion, personal alignment, and commitment to Mi’kmaw health and wellness through self-determination over health resources.
Your qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in either program evaluation, community development, or a health discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Master’s degree in a related field of study is considered an asset.
- If applicable, registration with and a member of good standing of the relevant college/association.
- Experience with program evaluation, models and tools.
- Commitment to Health Transformation.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and planning skills.
- Experience and knowledge of Mi’kmaw community health and wellness strengths and challenges; and Indigenous community, provincial, and federal health systems, policies, programs, and strategies.
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in the Mi’kmaw language would be an asset.
Salary: to be negotiated based on experience.

Tajikeimɨk | Mi’kmaw Health and Wellness is the new and developing health and wellness organization being created to lead health transformation on behalf of Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia. In collaboration with Chiefs, Grand Council, and Health Directors, Tajikeimɨk will build on and evolve the health and wellness services and programs used by Mi’kmaw people in Nova Scotia; improve health service delivery; and strengthen coordination with Federal and Provincial health system partners—with the goal of improving overall health for Mi’kmaq and communities.
