Tajikeimɨk recognizes the importance of cultural connection when accessing services in the current hospital system.

Our Nuji-Apoqnmuet (Mi’kmaw Patient Helpers) Team are here to support Mi’kmaw and Indigenous community members, and their families, while they are accessing health services in hospital.

The Nuji-Apoqnmuet Team provides:

  • Wholistic support for patients and families
  • Mi’kmaw translation and language assistance
  • Visiting patients in hospital
  • Help communicate with hospital staff
  • Encourage inclusion of culture and ceremony into care
  • Small errands for in-patients
  • Spiritual and/or religious supports
  • Liaison with home community, as required
  • Assistance accessing relevant services and programs
